It is possible to restrict courses to a group of users based on their email domain, city, preferred language, job title, department and/or institution. For example, if you your learning environment is accessible to both employees and non-employees, you may want to restrict some courses to your employees based on their email address.
When course restrictions are enabled, a filter is applied to the course catalogue and the search results page. Courses that are restricted are not visible to learners who cannot access them and will not appear anywhere in the site for these specific learners, even if they are somehow enrolled in the course (but will be visible for users who have access to them).
To restrict a course:
- Find the course in question using the course catalogue or search tool
- Once in the course, click on Course administration > Edit settings
- Set the Course ID number as per your convention to restrict or allow access to certain group
