Voiding or Expiring Learning Records

...

The "Expire learning records" section can be especially useful for courses that generate learning records that never expire. Let's assume that you have a course that your learners only need to take once in their career. Generally speaking, that course would be set to never expire. But let's assume that the course has changed significantly and that you now want to force users to retake the same course. In releases prior to 3.5.4.2, you would most likely have had to create a new course and archive the old course. While this workaround works well, it may force you to update a long list of programs who reference this course. The "Expire learning records" now gives you an alternative. By simply expiring everyone's learning record, the users will now see a yellow star on their progress report - an indicator that they have to retake the course. They may also get a program notification asking them to retake the course by a certain date (if program notifications are enabled). But more importantly, it allows you to track learning records for both version of the course (the old version and the version) in one (1) course, which simplifies compliance and completion tracking.
