1. Go to Site Administration > Courses > Add a category
   1. If you do not see the Site Administration > Courses section, it's because you have not been granted the role of Course Creator in the context of the learning environment. We suggest you read this troubleshooting article.
2. Specify the parent category for the new category you are about to create
3. Give the new category a name
4. Optionally give the category and ID Number and Description
5. Click on the "Create category" button at the bottom of the page
