Welcome to the Dual Code's HCE - the learning environment designed specifically for Canadian healthcare workers.

The HCE is used by more than 1,000 healthcare sites and almost over a million healthcare workers across Canada. It allows you to not only complete compliance training offered by your employer, but also enroll in accredited, continuing medical education courses (CMEs) offered by teaching hospitals and other healthcare organizations.

Once logged in this secure learning environment, you’ll automatically see a list of courses already assigned to you by your employer. This means you don’t need to search through long lists of courses to determine which modules you’re suppose to complete and when. Yet you are still free to browse your employer’s course catalogue and self-enroll in courses that are of interest to you.

Your employer doesn’t offer the course you’re looking for? That’s no problem! You can browse the OCI Marketplace, which lists courses offered by other organizations. Many of these courses are accredited by recognized healthcare organizations such as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons or the College of Family Physicians, thereby allowing you to earn continuing education credits. Once you complete any course available in the OCI Marketplace, the learning record is forwarded to your employer so that both you and your employer retain a copy.

Your entire learning history is available at the click of a button from your Learning History report. This report allows you to download certificates of completion and transcripts for programs you’ve already completed.

titleWeb Conferencing System

The Web Conferencing System (WCS) has different minimum requirements.  For more information you can visit the Browser Support for WCS page.

Q. How fast does my internet need to be?

If you feel that the learning environment is slow, or that the built-in Web Conferencing Service is choppy or lags, it's most likely because you are accessing the learning environment from a computer or mobile device that has slow internet speed.

To verify the speed of the internet connectivity:

  1. Log in the learning environment
  2. Go to User Menu > Speed Test as per the screenshot below.
  3. Click on the "Start speed test" button.
  4. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the tests to complete.

If the results that are less than 10 Mbps for "Download" or 2 Mbps for "Upload", the latency is likely because you are accessing the learning environment from a computer or mobile device that has slow internet speed. If you are accessing the learning environment from within your organization, consult with your IT department. If are accessing the learning environment from home, you may need to upgrade your internet speed at home.

Important Note

  • The 10 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload are strictly suggestions - not a hard and fast rule. It really depends on the type of learning content your instructors upload to the system. An organization that uses a lot of HD videos in their courses for example will certainly want their users to have more bandwidth than an organization that uses mostly text-based training material.
