The system allows you to define pre-requisites for a course, thereby (a) blocking users from self-enrolling for a course unless they meet the pre-requisites, or (b) in the case where an administrator manually enrolls users in courses, blocking them from receiving their learning record (e.g. green checkmark).
To define pre-requisites for a course:
- Go to the course in question (the one that will have pre-requisites)
- Go to Course Administration > Course completion. (If course completion is not visible, see "Tracking Course Completion".
- Under "Condition: Completion of other courses", select one or more courses.
- Select the right option under "Condition requires" (e.g. All or Any).
- Enable the "Restrict enrollment" checkbox.
- Click on "Save changes" at the bottom of the page.
Please note that define pre-requisites only blocks students from self-enrolling in a course. It does not prevent an administrator or instructor from enrolling students in a course (e.g. manual enrollment) nor does it prevent a program from assigning courses to users.
