In order to appraise users, you will need to define the competencies by which to evaluate them. This process consists of two steps:
Adding a competency framework
Adding individual competencies
Step-by-step Guide
To add a competency framework:
Go to Performance Appraisal System > Define competencies
Click on the "Add new competency framework" button.
Fill out the form.
The Name, ID Number and Scale are both mandatory and important.
Make sure you set the Name and ID Number to something memorable as you will need to reference it later on when building appraisal forms.
Make sure to select the "Performance Appraisal" scale, or a custom scale that you developed
Click on the "Configure scales" button
Identify the "Default" and "Proficient" values in the scale and click on the "Close" button.
Click on the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the screen
NOTE: If you receive a message that says "The scale needs to be configured by selecting default and proficient items.", it's because you skipped steps 4 & 5 above.
Once you click on "Save changes" above, you will be brought to a different screen where you can add individual competencies. To add competencies:
Click on the name of your competency to make the "Add competency" button appear
Click on the "Add competency" button
Fill out the form
If you select "Inherit from competency framework (default)" for the scale, you can move to step 4 below. Otherwise, you'll need to do steps 3b and 3c:
Click on the "Configure scales" button
Identify the "Default" and "Proficient" values in the scale and click on the "Close" button.
Click on the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the screen
Repeat steps 1 - 4 above for each competency
IMPORTANT NOTE: The PAS only supports one (1) level of competencies. In other words, do not add sub-competency to existing competencies. Using the sample screenshot above, before clicking on "Add competency", make sure you always select the "Regulated Health Professionals" competency above. If you select any other competency, the form builder will not be able to load them.
