Whenever a program, course or even a single activity is completed, the learning environment issues what is called a learning record. A learning record is a digital proof that you've completed all of the requirements as specified by the instructor. The original copy of the learning record is generated by the learning environment that offers the course, and a duplicate copy of the course learning record is forwarded to My Dual Code or your site (depending on where accessed the course).

In addition to issuing a learning record, some courses may issue a certificate of completion, but not all courses do. If a certificate of completion is issued by a course, a PDF copy will automatically be emailed to you. In the event that you lose the email (or never received it), you may also go back to the site that issued the certificate of completion and download it again.

Step-by-step Guide

To view an original learning record:

  1. Log in the learning environment
  2. In the Navigation block, go to OCI Tools > View my Library
  3. Click on the course in question
  4. Once on the site of the organization that offers the course, go to Reports > Learning History in their Navigation block.
  5. Enter a start / end date when you would have completed the course
    1. By default, the learning history will only show courses completed within the last 365 days but you can change the criteria
  6. Click on the "Show" button

A list of learning records within the specified period will appear in a table. If a certificate of completion is available, a link to download it will appear in the very last column. (If a link does not appear, the course is question does not provide certificates of completion.)

To view a copy of the learning record for the course:

  1. Log in the learning environment
    1. That is your learning environment - there is no need to go to the 3rd party's learning environment to simply view a copy of the learning record)
  2. In the Navigation block, go to Reports > Learning History
  3. Enter a start / end date when you would have completed the course
    1. By default, the learning history will only show courses completed within the last 365 days but you can change the criteria
  4. Click on the "Show" button

A list of learning records for courses completed within the specified period will appear in a table.

Important Notes

  • The learning environment that issues learning records only sends copies of course learning records to My Dual Code or your site (depending on where accessed the course). It does not send copies of learning records for single activities nor entire programs.
  • The certificate of completion (if the course issues one) is also not sent to My Dual Code or your site (depending on where accessed the course). But if one was issued, it will have been emailed to you.
