Important Note for Learners

Regular users (e.g. learners) may not contact Dual Code directly for technical support. If you need help above and beyond the information found in the resources below, please contact your System Administrator, Site Administrator, Supervisor, or Instructor.

Browser Support

The learning environment is compatible with any standards compliant web browser. The theme is based on Bootstrap, an open-source front-end web framework for designing websites and web applications that work on all devices, including desktops, tablets and smartphones.

The following browsers are officially supported and tested with. For the best experience and optimum security, we recommend that you keep your browser up to date and use the latest version. If you're not sure what browser you are using, you can visit https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/.

Desktop

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer *

Note: HCE version 3.9.x (LTS) will be the last version actively supporting Internet Explorer 11. The next major release will NOT support Internet Explorer 11.

Mobile

  • MobileSafari
  • Google Chrome

Legacy Browsers

There are known compatibility issues with HCE 3.9 when using the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 10 and below
  • Safari 7 and below

Web Conferencing System

The Web Conferencing System (WCS) has different minimum requirements.  For more information you can visit the Browser Support for WCS page.

Speed Test

If you feel that the learning environment is slow, or that the built-in Web Conferencing Service is choppy or lags, it's most likely because you are accessing the learning environment from a computer or mobile device that has slow internet speed.

To verify the speed of the internet connectivity:

  1. Log in the learning environment
  2. Go to User Menu > Speed Test as per the screenshot below.
  3. Click on the "Start speed test" button.
  4. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the tests to complete.

If the results that are less than 10 Mbps for "Download" or 2 Mbps for "Upload", the latency is likely because you are accessing the learning environment from a computer or mobile device that has slow internet speed. If you are accessing the learning environment from within your organization, consult with your IT department. If are accessing the learning environment from home, you may need to upgrade your internet speed at home.

Important Note

  • The 10 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload are strictly suggestions - not a hard and fast rule. It really depends on the type of learning content your instructors upload to the system. An organization that uses a lot of HD videos in their courses for example will certainly want their users to have more bandwidth than an organization that uses mostly text-based training material.
