Restricting Enrollment to Specific Cohorts

It is possible to restrict the self-enrollment method to specific cohorts.

Step-by-step Guide

To restrict an enrollment method to one or more cohorts:

  1. Go to the course in question

  2. Go to Course Administration > Users > Enrollment Methods

  3. Click on the "Edit" icon next to the enrollment method you want to restrict

  4. In the "Only cohort members" field, select the cohort in question

Important Notes

  • The cohort needs to pre-exist. If the cohort does not pre-exist, a System Administrator can create it using these instructions.

  • If multiple self-enrolment methods are enabled on a course and the user qualifies for more than one, only the first (highest in the list) method applicable to the learner in question will be presented them. It's therefore important that you not only set cohort restrictions but also order the enrolment methods properly.
