Allowing an Instructor to Add Courses

Allowing an Instructor to Add Courses

In order for someone to be able to manage a course, they must be assigned the role of instructor in the course. This implies that the course in question already exists.

If you want to allow some people in your organization to create their own courses, you can leverage the "Course Creator" role. Once a Course Creator adds a course to the system, they are automatically assigned the role of Instructor in this course. This therefore grants them the permission to modify the course settings and add activities to it.

Step-by-step Guide

To add a Course Creator so that they can create course:

  1. Go to Site Administration > Users > Permissions > Assign system roles

  2. Click on the Course Creator role.

  3. Select 1 or more users from the "Potential Users" box (on the right) and click on the "Add" button to move them to the "Existing Users" box (on the left) and assign them the new role.
